    HOME Business ProductsPaintsIndustrial Paints
    Industry is
    the first area of development
We supply various industrial paints to industries at home and abroad ranging from paints for general metal and plastics coating to UV protection, electrodeposition and automobile parts. KCC industrial paints are researched and developed jointly with manufacturing companies to match various production lines and products to ensure production of the most economical paints with the best performance.

    For general industries

Steel output is an index of industrial development that takes the lead in all areas of industry. Industrial paints are coating materials for industrial products that use steel, such as cars, machines, daily necessities, toys, and sporting goods. Industrial paints prevent corrosion and decorate steel products. New paints develop in tandem with market growth for industrial products. The specialized physiochemical properties and small quantity batch production of industrial paints means there is room for development of a wide range of new paints to follow changing preferences and serve a variety of functions.

    Lacquer Paints

    Summary

These solvent volatile paints are composed of nitrocellulose and non-drying oil modified with an alkyd resin. If the constituent solvent is volatilized, a dry paint film is formed; or, if constituent solvent is dissolved in a soluble solvent, it is reduced to its original condition. Thus, the paints have reversible characteristics.

    Characteristics

    - Quick drying forms a dry paint film in a short time.
    - Since a skin is not formed during storage, the paint can be stored for a long time.
    - Gloss is high. It can be used universally on wood and steel and also for the repair of almost all products.
    - As it yellows, it is not suitable for the long-term maintenance of appearance.

    Urethane Paints

    Summary

A polyurethane paint is a generic term for paints having a urethane bond (-OCONH-). If a paint film forming element does not contain a urethane bond, it can be called a urethane paint if a urethane bond forms in the paint film forming reaction.

    Characteristics

Although it has excellent adhesiveness, chemical resistance and abrasion resistance, it easily yellows. The yellowing phenomenon is caused by the ring structure of isocyanate, and yellowing can be prevented if an yellowing preventing isocyanate crosslink agent, such as aliphatic isocyanate, is used.

    Water Soluble Paints

    Summary

Although water soluble paints are a worldwide trend, it has been difficult to improve the rust resistance, water resistance and adhesiveness of the objects to be painted, such as shot surface treatment and castings. Water soluble paints that do improve such problems can be applied to automobile parts, shot surface treatment and castings.

    Characteristics

    - Saving of raw material can be expected and price is good.
    - Pollution by the petroleum series of organic solvents can be minimized.
    - Odor of organic solvents can be minimized and safety enhanced.
    - These water-soluble paints can be used in the wintertime as well, and the quality does not deteriorate after long-term storage.
    - It is advantageous in terms of work sanitation.
    - It is easy to clean the painting tools. A great deal of technological development has been made with regards to water soluble paints, so their performance is equal to or better than the conventional paints using organic solvents. Thus, the demand for them has been increasing on a yearly basis. Our company has been developing, producing and selling industrial paints for automotive parts as well as general items for many years.

    Paints for General Plastics

Characteristics and Paint Specifications by Material

    Painting of ABS: UT578(A), UT2578, AT5873 series
ABS has better flame resistance, solvent resistance and adhesiveness than PS or HIPS and improved paintability. Acryl lacquer or acryl urethane painting is mostly used, and acryl urethane is best for car exterior parts that require gloss and durability. Painting on thick coats of acryl urethane is likely to lead to contractions so careful attention should be paid to the painting conditions. KCC also has ABS paint technology secured.
In the case of using acryl lacquer to paint metallic materials, decoration (kinds of aluminum powder) vs. workability (the content of aluminum powder) and surface flaking vs. voltage (shock by TV voltage) are generally contrary characteristics and frequently occur in wintertime. Most of these problems have been solved recently by using aluminum powder, improving paint composition and improving the additives used.
Painting of PS and HIPS : UT2578, AT5873 series
PS and HIPS have less weather resistance, solvent resistance and adhesiveness than ABS resins. Acryl lacquer is mostly used and the paint technology has already been secured. Because acryl urethane paints have less adhesiveness and cracking is caused by thinners, they are generally unsuitable, but applicable products are being developed.
    Hard and soft PP painting
Adoption of composite PP in earnest started with car meter housings around 1977, after which it expanded to other interior parts and home appliances, such as TVs and record players. Because PP is non-polar and highly crystlline, the adhesiveness of the paint film is poor. Surface treatment was required, such as ① flame treatment, ② acid treatment, ③ corona discharge and ④ plasma treatment. But with the adoption of composite PP, a special primer (RP2840-RP2143), in the olefin chloride series, which has excellent adhesiveness, was developed that does not require the treatment specified above. So soft PP blended with rubber components, such as EPR and EPDM, which have considerably weak adhesiveness, is used as a special primer (RP 2840-R2143(H)). Acryl urethane paints (UT2578, UT595), which have excellent physicochemical properties, are used as topcoats that yield good painting effects. At present they are also put to practical use on exterior parts, such as motorbikes and car bumpers as well as home appliances and car interior products.
    Polycarbonate painting
PC has poor adhesiveness and solvent resistance, so it is not good at painting aptitude. It is important to have a paint composition that has excellent adhesiveness, even after time has passed, as well as in the early period.
At present acryl lacquer or acryl urethane is used in the first round painting, but in the case of urethane, you have to pay attention to decreases in the strength of PC caused by the solvent. As a primer, the two component acryl lacquer epoxy series are the best.
    FRP (SMC) painting: UT2578
Use acryl urethane (UT 2578) after treating the substrate with a solvent.

    Conductive Paints

Our stereo makes noise, the TV screen suddenly shakes, we have trouble with our vision, the computer malfunctions, or a fire breaks out; these kinds of trouble occur from time to time.
Such troubles are due to EMI, which has recently become regarded as a new kind of pollution, and the thing that prevents the effects of EMI is called an EMI shield. KCC's conductive paint ELECOAT is a special paint that shields objects from 'radioactive noise' thanks to its metal filler (Ag, Cu, and carbon). When the paint is applied to a plastic surface it metalize it. Since the shielding effect is good and economical, it is now widely used more than any other shielding method.

    Uses of ELECOAT

    • - Computer (CRT display, keyboard, printer) TV, radio, audio, video, cameras, communications equipment, measuring instruments, business machines, medical equipment, etc.
    • - Military equipment: for shielding from electromagnetic waves of the FRP line.
    • - SHIELD ROOM
    • - Resistors and circuits of electric appliances.
    • - Satellite equipment for home use.

    Sensory Paints

Following the development of industrial civilization, modern society is now pursuing the recovery of the natural environment, and at the same time, it is considering ergonomic aspects that are more convenient to human beings. Accordingly, we have developed sensory paints whereby we can shed the inhuman coldness, like steel, in our living spaces and instead make surfaces soft and elegant without the need to change the base material.

    Characteristics

These sensory paints are applied to the interior finish of high-class cars. They are made by mixing a soft sensory agent with urethane paint, which is highly flexible, to give a strong performance. They are widely used on plastic home appliances and accessories that are frequently touched by the hand. By using matt gold, red, or blue metal grains (Deco Sense products) on BODRAN products, a new decorative effect will be obtained. These paints are also used on plastic home appliances (cleaners, telephones, etc.).
